Alemayehu Eshete started his career at Police Orchestra, a very well-known music band of its time. His contribution to Ethiopian music was immense beginning from his early days, till he was forced to leave the country for political reasons. He gained even more wider audience among the Ethiopian diaspora. As recent as 2008, Alemayehu, along with Mahmud Ahmed (another respected artist in Ethiopia) toured USA performing on the presence of thousands of Ethiopians residing in the USA.
